Few people know about Lucky Lindy's college days at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Author Anne Vandenbergh carefully documents the years 1920 through 1922 on the UW campus, not only covering Lindbergh's somewhat lackadaisical academic studies, but happenings on campus as well. Photographs collected from college yearbooks and the University archives round out this brief glimpse into the early days of one of America's most celebrated air heros, Charles A. Lindbergh.

Open these pages and celebrate Madison’s 150th birthday with twelve women whose roots go deep here. Get to know their families and friends, enjoy their pastimes, as you follow them through an adventure we all share: coming of age. Find inspiration in the wisdom, grace, and pleasure these women bring to their lives."This book is composed of women’s voices, describing experiences from early childhood through leaving home. The chapters appear in chronological order. I have not inserted my own voice, choosing to show rather than tell what has struck me as wise, poignant, universal, or simply amusing. I found fascinating threads weaving through the fabric of these stories, and I hope you will too." Sarah White

The likelihood of meeting folks like Ziggy the bartender, Wheatbread, the Kipp brothers (Bob, Beau, Ben, Buford, Bart, and Bill), Hillary Grogan the Mexican beauty, or Presidential Gene in a Middleton bar or in any village bar is quite high. Truth is they reside in Delmar Center, frequent the Brandy Station, and color the pages of the Last Man Tales Book, a fictional series of vignettes about small town life in the Midwest.

When David Mollenhoff began to study Madison’s history, he was delighted by his early discoveries but frustrated because no one had written a book-length history of Madison since 1876. Finally, in 1972 he decided to write that book. His research required him to read five miles of microfilm, piles of theses and dissertations, shelves of reports, boxes of manuscripts and letters, and to study thousands of photographs. Soon after the first edition was published in 1982, readers declared it to be a classic. For this second edition Madison has been extensively revised and updated with new maps and photos.

"The Door Peninsula, described by seventeenth-century French explorer Pierre Esprit Radisson as "a kingdom so delicious," has long attracted naturalists, artists, and visitors seeking, in Jens Jensen's words, 'a place to breathe and feel a kinship with the earth.' This splendid book of paintings brings nature and art together--indeed, a book so delicious as to be a fitting tribute to the life and spirit of Door County itself."
